The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is the oldest and largest professional organization for interior designers with the largest residential and commercial membership. With more than 30,000 members, ASID establishes a common identity for professionals and businesses in the field of interior design. Through education, knowledge sharing, advocacy, community building and outreach, the Society strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively change people's lives. The association boasts 48 chapters throughout the United States and Canada. ASID was founded in 1975 with the consolidation of the American Institute of Designers (AID) and the National Society of Interior Designers (NSID).
