Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture
Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture
ACADIA was founded in 1981 by some of the pioneers in the field of design computation including Bill Mitchell, Chuck Eastman, and Chris Yessios. Since then, ACADIA has hosted over 30 conferences across North America and has grown into a strong network of academics and professionals in the design computation field. The Association facilitates critical investigations into the role of computation in architecture, planning, and building science, encouraging innovation in design creativity, sustainability, and education. Membership is open to educators, students, professionals and academic libraries with an interest in computer-aided design. ACADIA has members from all over the world, including members from the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim. Because ACADIA focuses on education and research, most of its members are affiliated with colleges and universities. However, a number of members are from professional design firms and the CAD software industry.
