The National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature (NCCIL) is a non-profit organization incorporated in February of 1997 in the Abilene, Texas. NCCIL enhances visual and verbal literacy by celebrating the best original art published in children’s literature. The Center strives to honor the art of illustration and recognize the contribution of these artists, educate children and families about illustrated literature, provide programming that will increase appreciation of children’s books and the art in them, provide visual and verbal literacy training for educators who inspire children, and establish a presence nationally through exhibition partners and other art institutions.
