I would like to paint on a relief carving and allow the natural grain to show through subtly. Which fade resistant paint would you recommend?
- Asked by Michael D on 21-May-14
Answer
Try mixing 1-Shot Lettering Enamel with 2 parts linseed oil and 1 part paint thinner to create a wood stain. 1-Shot Lettering Enamel is fade resistent itself, but Speed Dry UV Acrylic Clear may be added as a topcoat if additional protection is desired.

I'm adding lettering to a wall art project that has been treated with polyurethane. Will 1-Shot lettering enamel adhere?
- Asked by Cyn B on 18-May-14
Answer
The surface of a polyurethane-coated wall is too smooth to properly adhere oil-based paint. Use a fine grain sandpaper to rough up the surface in preparation for the 1-Shot paint to adhere appropriately.

1-Shot is a beautiful enamel paint and recommended for outdoor use on any surface. We recommend applying primer first due to the porosity of stone.

Do I need to prime the wood?
- Asked by Melanie Bacom on 13-Dec-13
Answer
It would save paint to use a primer if you're painting on wood. We do not sell a specific primer for this paint, however. If you think you want to use one, just buy a primer for enamel.
