Encaustic paint color cakes are composed of beeswax, damar resin, and pigments. In a molten state the cakes are applied to an absorbent ground and then fused or re-melted to achieve a range of effects, from glass-like smoothness to rich impasto-like textures.
The 40 ml. cake measures 1 1/4 in. x 2 1/2 in. x 3/4 in. The 104 ml. cake measures 3 1/2 in. x 1 1/2 in. x 1 1/4 in.
