About 20 years ago in Princeton, New Jersey, Howard Kaufman began a small brush business near his home. Howard posessed a vast knowledge of brush-making, and an understanding of the needs and desires of painters.

He then began collaborating with Naohide Takamoto, the third-generation of Japan’s revered Takamoto brush-making family. Kaufman and Takamoto worked tirelessly to develop the world’s best synthetic sable brush. The result was the Princeton Series 4050 faux-sable brushes. In developing a true alternative to more expensive natural hair brushes, Taklon synthetic bristles were created. Taklon bristles retain the name of their creator, Takamoto. With non-toxic coatings, and responsible sourcing of sustainable wood for paint brush handles, Princeton leads the market in new synthetic hair technology and handle finishes.

Princeton also proudly supports several arts-related charities, such as The Traveling Canvas, and the Cameron Cross: Brushing Out Poverty. The Traveling Canvas provides art materials to schools with low art supplies budgets. The Brush Out Poverty organization creates a painting exchange between children in Winnepeg, Canada, and AIDS affected children in Africa.  [ visit manufacturer website ]
