About 20 years ago in Princeton, New Jersey, Howard Kaufman began a small brush business near his home. Howard posessed a vast knowledge of brush-making, and an understanding of the needs and desires of painters.

He then began collaborating with Naohide Takamoto, the third-generation of Japan’s revered Takamoto brush-making family. Kaufman and Takamoto worked tirelessly to develop the world’s best synthetic sable brush. The result was the Princeton Series 4050 faux-sable brushes.
